Ugh Finals

Hey, what's up!  I'm currently here in dead week in college world, however I'm ready for anything here.  So I'm planing to take a small break, maybe put in some filler.  Here are somethings to tie you over.

My childhood, the start of it all
THE GREAT GUATEMALAN REWATCH- Oh my heck I cannot wait until this.  I have it on itunes, I may have cheated a bit a watched a few episodes.  I want to get the DVD for Christmas (I dropped a lot of hints about this).  I'm going to start over Christmas break.  I've either been thinking about doing a podcast over this, instead of a write up though, with my cousin as a special guest.  You guys know how awesome Guatemala is, so this rewatch will be epic.

My favorite things- A list of things that I liked this year.  Not much but hey, I didn't get around to doing it last year.  If you want me to mention something, be sure to shoot me an Email or something.
Here is a picture of that one moment that I love

The Comedy Star awards- A few things that is so awesome, I need to award it a fake award that no one cares about. Yay!

Next year on- Things I cannot wait for in 2013, if we get to it that is.

So, I will have to go on a small leave to accompany finals and such.  No worries though, I will still be on Twitter snarking it up.  I'm thinking about returning back to the polls too.  So, I'll see you guys after all of the mess that is OU's finals week.

My Survivor Predictions though the seasons

Before I get to the main event- you should listen to this podcast.  I got a few of my comments in it, some funny ones as well.  Here it is, The Survivor Historians Podcast.  My mentions are kind of deep into it, but you need to listen to all of it.

Okay, I've watched Survivor for seven years now, so in celebration, I'm posting some of my predictions that I could remember who I wanted to take it all.  I was right on a few, but mostly with the final episode.  I also predicted that Maggie won BB6 around this time, also I predicted that Tammy and Victor, and Nick and Star won their seasons in TAR.  But Survivor was very hit or miss.  Either my choices got out pre-merge or get voted out in the finals.  Let us began.

S11- I wanted Amy to win, I loved her and when she got voted out before the merge I was crushed.  I really didn't start with my 1st episode winning picks in Guatemala, because of my young age at the time.  However, I would say that Amy was my pick.  My final episode pick was Danni, but I wanted Lydia to win because I loved her as well, but for the practical standpoint, I picked Danni.

S12- Exile Island was a weird season for me.  The four tribes and I missed the reason why Misty went to Exile.  Bruce grew on me, and so did Aras.  However, I believe that either Cindy or Sally was my pick.  I really don’t remember, I remember Amy because she is a huge favorite of mine.  My final episode pick was Cirie, but Aras would have been the next choice.

S13- Cook Islands was pretty cool beans when I first watched it.  I loved Yul, loved Becky, loved Penner, and loved Flicka, and I thought that Penner won.  Fail on my part, but I did predict Yul winning in the final episode.  I didn’t really like Ozzy, and to this day I use this FTC to defend the Brains vs. Brawns standpoint in Survivor that people tend to respect you more if you get there the way Yul did.  I still believe that the HII was very minor in that regard.  It just convinced Penner to flip on Candice.

S14- I believed Yau-Man would take it the first episode, and my fall back was Michelle.  I was 13, I understood Survivor more so I began to logically predict people, but I also had that I wanted to win because I liked them.  In the final episode, I was still nursing my wounds from Michelle’s boot episode, but I still wanted Yau to win.  I’m happy with Earl though, but I also think that Dreamz didn't deserve half the crap thrown his way either.  I like Fiji, not in my top five, but hey great post-merge sans Michelle’s boot episode.

S15- Survivor China is another favorite of mine.  Peih-Gee I predicted to go far, and she was my favorite.  When I saw Zhan-Hu lose almost everything I was worried for her.  The final episode pick for me, I didn’t know.  I think I went with Todd, because he did play the better game out of all of them, but I may have also chose Amanda, but she tanked on her jury speech that I may have in retrospect removed that thought from my memory.

S16- Fans Vs. Favorites, however I tend to call it Micronesia.  I could watch most of the first episode, and I confused Ami with Amy for some unknown reason.  I still don’t get it.  I can’t remember, I may have gone with the Ami because of the confusion, or even Eliza because I thought she looked familiar.  I figured out I saw the original airing of the final five immunity challenge which Eliza won back in Vanuatu.  My final episode choice was Cirie, again.  I knew Amanda would tank, and I disregarded Parvati but still like her name.  Very much like their original seasons right?

S17- Gabon, I believe that Paloma was my choice.  Weird right?  I believed it may be just her name, but I really didn’t pay attention to Gabon TBH.  Though I did have a final episode winner, I’m proud to announce that it was Susie.  Yeah, I’m a Susie fan.  I’m thinking about a Gabon rewatch, but I’ll wait until the DVD comes out, but I’ll get Tocantins first.

S18- Ah, sweet Tocantins.  I was rooting for Erinn after episode three and I didn’t like Coach and Erinn was the perfect foil for him.  As for the first episode, Stephan was awesome.  I found it cool that my two picks made it to the final episode, but J.T. winning was kind of lame.  I would have loved to see Stephan win, or Erinn pulling off the ultimate underdog story since Danni.  I still love this season, I own a Timbira buff in honor of the most dysfunctional tribe since Casaya.

S19- Samoa, or what a lot of people call the Russell show, I was indifferent to him until Betsy got voted out.  You see, Betsy was my pick because she reminded me of Amy, my original favorite castaway, and she even had the same job.  I was hoping she would get far and cuss out Russell like Amy would have done.  My final episode pick was Natalie.  I remember her confessional about laying low, I remember her involvement with the Erik blindside.  I’m not going to rant about defending her win because that is not what I’m doing here.
She deserved it Russell tanked FTC and Mick was Mick.  Awesome.

S20- Heroes Vs. Villains was fun.  I believe that I chose either Candice (Don’t ask) or Circe.  Yeah, I tanked and with Betsy going out early with Samoa, I thought that Candice did what she needed to do with flipping and I’ll defend that.  My final episode pick was Jerri.  I’m happy that Sandra won though, two time winner for the win!  I also didn’t want Parvati to have that honor.

S21- Nicaragua I thought was Kelly B.’s season for sure.  She seemed pretty cool, and I love her.  I missed the episode where she and Yve got voted out (Yve was another pre-pick) so yeah.  I’m getting bad luck.  I did predict Fabio or Holly to win it all.  So I was right, so shut up.

S22- Haha you know  I knew Boston Rob would win.

S23- Last one, South Pacific.  I can only put the Final episode for this however, and I was right.  Sophie is my current favorite winner and just like Natalie she doesn’t deserve being called undeserving, that claim I can kind of understand with Natalie; however Sophie was a challenge force and a great mental player.  I believe it’s mostly her abrasive attitude, and such.  Whatever.

missed One World D:

S25- Philippines.  Penner all the way :D

So this is it.  I wanted to write this up.  I'm sure you guys got opinions so let me here them.  I'll be back next week when I have some time.  Sorry for no pictures, I didn't want to fill up this entry more than I had to.

The joys of Illness

* Sarcasm*

Well, I had a bout of Tonsillitis, which I why I haven't been on.  Most of the time I've been defending Sophie and Natalie White over at Sucks.  A valiant battle that was.  However, people still have a negative opinion on them.  Boo.

So, while I was sick, I also got the Marquesas on DVD.  I wish they had commentary though.  I've been thinking about getting Vanuatu on DVD as well.  I mean why not, I heard Twila gets some commentary in.

Anyhow, I'm still on sucks, I'm still on Twitter.  I haven't been eating though.  Hard to eat when your throat is so swollen.  I know I lost a few pounds, not like I needed to.  Blah.

Back in college, I'm just hanging out here.  Not much to do here.  I was sick after all, and I've been researching some Survivor's play styles.  It's very interesting that's for sure.

I'm sorry I haven't been as active here.  I did get to talk to John from Marquesas on Sucks a little.  He really wants to come back with Tammy or Neleh, and I will be rooting for his success if he is on another show.

Love ya guys <3

The Impact of the Ruto Four

Hey Survivor fans!  Heather Short here!  Today, I have a Survivor article for myself.  It's about the Ruto Four from Survivor Marquesas.  It's been almost ten year, so lets get it started!

The Rotu 4 was an alliance comprised of John Carroll, Tammy Leitnor, Robert “The General” DeCanio, and Zoe Zanidakis. They were an alliance formed after the Marquesas tribal switch, best known for taking out the neutral Gabe after John’s paranoia. They quickly became known as the villains of the season, their smugness led to their downfall. The coconut challenge exposed the pecking order, with the people eliminated the same way that they were going home in the Rotu 4’s eyes. After that, they were voted out one by one, starting with their leader, John.
John- Big time queer
The General- Has a little Sausage
Tammy- Engaged so no hope there
Zoe- The toughest guy on the tribe
However, let’s play a game shall we? Let’s take a slight look back at the season. It’s the tribal switch; let’s pretend that John didn't care about Gabe. He and the four voted out Rob, like they intended. Now, that means a lot. It means that Rob never told Kathy about the alliance’s pecking order. It meant that Rob never tricked Zoe about their intentions to vote out Kathy. It meant that Vecepia didn't win, because she or Sean would get voted out first after the merge. It would mean that one of the Rotu four would have won.
This would not have happen.

Now, who of the four that would win would still be a mystery, my money would be on one of the girls, Zoe or Tammy, just to keep the status quo I guess. John is too dangerous and The General is a physical threat. So I’d like to think that Zoe or Tammy won. Leaning towards Tammy, because Zoe may or may not be crazy, I don’t know really. I’m sure Zoe would have gotten more on air time, if she did get to final two.  Also Mario Lanza said Tammy would have won as well, and this is Tammy we're talking about.

Final Two of Marquesas, Crazy Vs. the Pitbull
We’re going to talk about the purple rocks now. All I know is that Paschal will not be screwed over by them, maybe someone else, maybe not at all. If the rocks were not a problem, then it does affect future gameplay. Remember in Vanuatu where Eliza didn't side with Ami because she didn't want to draw rocks? Eliza is a huge survivor fan, so she would avoid that. What would happen then? The final four dynamic caused the tie vote, would that same dynamic happen with the Rotu four? A lot of what ifs, but notice that it has a ripple on other seasons, where people where scared to cause a tie vote after Marquesas.
Eliza's reaction to the purple rocks.
The returning players of Kathy and Rob in All-Stars may also be affected. Remember that Kathy was asked back for All-Stars only because Vecepia couldn't be there. What if Tammy was asked first, or even Zoe? A little different right? With Rob it may be different as well, being voted off before the merge this time. Although Shii Ann was asked back, even though she didn't make the merge either, Rob could be in All Stars like Kathy was. However, some other more prevalent male characters would be asked first, like John for example, and Gabe would have lasted longer as well. Remember that Rob has returned on Survivor three other times, met his wife on All-Stars, had all sorts of reality TV show appearances, and just being an iconic symbol for Survivor. I’m sure history would be different then.
The Leader of the Ruto 4 Alliance in his finest moment, this would still happen no matter what though.
The Ruto Four, the victims of the coconut chop challenge. Many different variables, but they changed Survivor history. However, you can always remember that no matter what happened in the fourth season, Boston Rob got defeated by a gay nurse from Nebraska and the rest of his crew. Not the Survivor mastermind that we all know and love right? If the Rotu four survived, in that alternate universe, all Boston Rob would have been was that one guy who got voted out two episodes before the merge, or even that one guy that got his ass handed to him by Neleh of all people.
Rob Mariano, best Survivor contest of all time
Kicked Rob's Ass
P.S.- Oh my heck, all of this was fun.  I'm sure that if this happened, Tammy would have won Marquesas, always fun.

I'm going to receive the DVD Monday (If UPS doesn't suck), so I feel awesome.  However my favorite has to be Zoe, she has to be somewhat crazy.  So huge Marquesas rewatch this week. :D

Breaking the mold

So, this week I'm chilling at home.  Not much really going on.

I got a new T-Shirt from the Funny 115.  It's really nice and I already named dropped the website already, however I'll say it again.  Why not?

Also I was reunited with my stuffed seal, Sophie Lucille Isles.  She's a favorite of mine and the new mascot for the blog in my world.

I've been recording myself talking.  I have one of me and my cousin talking about Need For Speed: Wost Wanted game.  I pointed out a lot of video game flaws.

Maybe some day, I'll post it up. :)

The last Post I mentioned a bunch of Survivor contestants that I would have want to come back.  I wanted to put a lot more contestants that I did.  Amber is the one I wanted to put on, and Lydia it kind of slipped my mind.  Sorry guys. :(  I was sad that I forgot Lydia because Guatemala needs more love.

So, I'm going back to collage Sunday, for the time being I'm at home sweet home.  Not much to say, however if you want to talk, just E-mail me, comment, Tweet me, or find me on Sucks.  HeatherShort17 is the name, and the game play is my game.

Me Calling out Probst

That's right.  This got real.  I've seen so many times Probst says that there are few strong female players.  I will call him out on the BS right now.

Now, I shall have a top Ten females who I personally will say the should come back.  No returning players have been females (Not counting Steph on Guatemala) that is not Fans Vs. Favorites, or an All-Stars seasons.  After you read this I dare you to turn around and call me out on this.  I dare you.  I'm sick of Probst man-crush on every buff dude that has returned.  I hate Ozzy, I hate Russell, I hate Rob.  Coach was random as hell, but I was not a fan.

Before I say the list, I'm not including people from One World/ Philippines.  I haven't seen the seasons yet, but I would have put Kim on here in a heartbeat.  I just haven't seen her gameplay yet.  If you think someone should be on this list, go ahead an comment, E-mail, Tweet, whatever.  THIS IS NOT A TOP TEN LIST!  It's in no order.  I've also included five alternates, who could be switched out, and four of my personal favorites that I feel like could appear as well.

1. Jerri Manthey-Australia/All-Stars/Heroes Vs. Villains

The Black widow of the game.  I have to chose Jerri for this list.  She is one of my favorite players, but I could see her one the show for a fourth time, with Colby of course.  She was the original female villain, before Corrine, before Ami, before every female villain that has been edited.  Even though she has been on three times, and each had her on the jury (Although I may be wrong when it came to AS, I'm not 100% sure) I would prefer her over Ozzy any day.

2. Ami Cusack- Vanuatu/Fans vs. Favorites

Another Female Villain, she's a very good game player.  She was meant to go on Amazing Race, but she ended up on Survivor.  I must mention this because she never really watched much Survivor and then she played a great game.  I can see her on a game, and she was a strong female player. She had the original female alliance that Parvati perfected.  She even won challenges, and was a legit physical threat.  Her only downside was trying to vote out Eliza over Chris, which saw the blindside of Leann and caused her alliance to crumble.

3. Eliza Orlins- Vanuatu/Fans Vs. Favorites

She's smart, strong woman and one of my all time favorite survivors.  Eliza is a long time fan of the show and at the time she was the youngest survivor of all time, apply just after her 21st birthday.  I believe it wasn't before Frosti that anyone younger was on the show, three years later.  She was the original plucky girl, before Stephanie, stuck in a season where everyone wanted her out yet escaping by the skin of her teeth, then coming back in FVF then seeing a repeat of this.  She's one of the smartest castaways as well as being a physical threat, as long as she doesn't have to catch pigs or deal with anything involving sticks with smiley faces on them.

4. Parvati Shallow- Cook Islands/Fans Vs. Favorites/ Heroes Vs. Villains.

While Ami started the female alliance, Parvati perfected it.  The Black Widow Brigade crushed everyone the opposed them, and then crushed Amanda at the final two, with Amanda pullling off the poorest FTC before Russell.  She's a strategist, she wins challenges, she's a leader, and deserves to be on this list.  I have to say, that after her three times on the show, twice at the FTC, and won once, I'm doubtful on seeing her.  She was a replacement for fellow season mate Candice Woodcock-Cody declined FVF.

5. Sandra Diaz-Twine- Pearl Islands/ Heroes Vs. Villains

Like I could leave out Sandra, the first and only two time winner in Survivor history.  I call her the best Survivor ever because of this.  Flying under the radar, however still retaining her loud mouth and attitude, Sandra is a unique person.  Notable for standing up against the major villain for each of her seasons (Fairplay and Russel) Sandra has a strategy of the as long as it ain't me, and it worked twice.  She had the mouth of a sailor, and is an interesting person to see on TV.

6. Cirie Fields- Exile Island/ Fans Vs Favorites/ Heroes Vs. Villains

One of the best players never to win, Cirie is a very smart, very popular  and very likable.  She had FVF in her bag if it had been a three person final tribal rather than two.  Known for the various blindsides in FVF, she was a dangerous member of the Black Widow Brigade and fully convince Erik to give up Immunity.  She's an amazing player that was so strong, she was Idoled in HVsV or being such a strong player.  If Boston Rob got a season that was set up for him, she should have one too.

  7. Tina Wesson- Australia/ All-Stars

The first female survivor winner, Tina played the strategic card, and the shining example of the strategy bets full on domination in challenges.  Coby took her out of loyalty, costing him the game.  She has the head of the alliance with him and tricked Kimmi into reveling who had the most votes on her tribe, breaking the tie back where previous votes broke a tie.  While Cody played a strong game, the lovable Tina won it all.  She was voted out first because of the targeting of past winners.

8. Stephenie LaGrossa- Palau/Guatemala/Heroes Vs Villians

An exception to the "Only returns are male" rule, Stephenie is a challenge winner.  On the worst tribe ever in Palau, and being separated form a day one alliance, she was the last person standing on Ulong.  Beating her fellow Ulong tribe mate Bobby John in a fire building contest, she was absorbed into Korror instead of an official Merge.  She returned in Guatemala, pulling a better game, although losing to Danni because Stephenie  burned too many bridges on the way.  Her reputation of her bad luck followed her in HvsV, being the second hero voted out after suffering a dislocated shoulder in the first challenge.

9. Sophie Clarke- South Pacific

What is Sophie doing on this list you ask?  Well, she is a strong competitor in challenges  she played the high and mighty coach in FTC, and she flew under the radar, not pissing people off as badly as Coach and his Brazil sized ego.  She won challenges, she beat Ozzy, and she is a favorite of mine.  Send all the hate mail to me, she's a deserving winner.  If only the editors didn't screw her with as little screen time as possible, giving it to Ozzy and Coach, I'm sure all of her hatedom would be reduced.

10. Peih-Gee Law- China

Why the hell wasn't she asked back for FvF, I mean Amanda? Come on!  Peih-Gee was the member standing on her tribe, but fought back, winning two challenges back to back, and would have won if she made it to the end.  Also a fan favorite, as well as having a villain edit, she came up with the plan to throw a challenge to vote off Aaron.  She took part in two major blindsides, and feuded with James.  If her plan to take out Todd worked, she would have been the winner of Survivor China.

That's not all, I'll include five honorable mentions to seal the deal on this.

Natalie White- Samoa

She is the sole survivor of Samoa, and played Russell at the FTC.  Like Sophie, she had the under the radar edit, and was the mastermind of the blindside of Erik, who was the strongest supporter of Natalie.  Despite being seen as the lesser of two evils, she deserved to win.  I will defend Nat to the end, forever, as being someone who should get more credit than she deserves.

Natalie Bolton- Fans Vs. Favorites

Who could forget the moment where Erik handed over Immunity to his friend Natalie.  She convenced him to hand over the necklace, is a part of the Black Widow Brigade, yet never been back on.  As the last fan standing, she is a cleaver player, however the editiors seemed to forget the quiet Natalie until her involvement with Parvati, but her jury question is a fun moment is Survivor history.

Shii Ann Huang- Thailand/All-Stars

Famous for thinking that a fake merge happened and was voted out because of that, she was the only person  form her season to return for All-Stars, where she played a better game.  She was asked back for HVsV, but she just gave birth to a baby, so she declined.  Shii Ann played a repeat, similar to what happened to Eliza, outcast on both her seasons, though in All Stars, she fought to the end, casting a throw away vote for Amber, naming her the biggest threat to win it all, as well as being the deciding vote for her at the end.

Jenna Morasca- Amazon/All-Stars

Stripped for chocolate and Peanut butter, Jenna also happened to win her season as well as going on an immunity streak.  She was a strong competitor, who was asked back to All-Star.  She left the game to spend time with her dying mother.  She is notable for being the youngest female winner, and the youngest until Fabio took the title.

Courtney Yates- China/Heroes Vs Villains

The mean girl of her season, and every season past.  I compare her to Coach as the girl that won a few challenges because a feather weighs more than her, but she has great fun moments of her insulting people.  Formed a friendship with Sandra, joked about breaking Stephanie's arm and other great moments is why she should be in another Survivor.  At let her do commentary.

So, a great amount right there.  How about a look at some of my favorites who I would be overexited to be back in an All-stars, but I wouldn't expect them to be alone on a season.

Erinn Lobdell- Tocantins

The second coming of Eliza with more of a sarcastic snippy side.  Erinn is the one bagging on Coach being a Jackass, an accountant from Nebraska, and other things.  She said what we wanted to say to Coach.  Also the outs on her tribe, like Eliza, she fought for her survival, and outlasted the rest of her tribe, coming in third.

Michelle Yi- Fiji

She got screwed by a twist, got her tribe fire, and fell in a calling challenge.  Michelle is a strong player.  She auditioned for the Amazing Race, but was picked for Survivor instead.  She was very popular, and was even on the DVD box even though she was voted out at the merge.  She was a strong player, physical and mental, and is someone who I would love to see once again.

Susie Smith- Gabon

She was pegged as a coattail rider, yet she pulled off Immunity wins.  Susie made herself a free vote, being that one vote that sent people home.  She has a strategy like Sandra, as long as it wasn't me, though her coattail riding is what made her come in second.  She is a huge fan of Survivor as well, and this knowledge no doubt helped her.

Amy O'Hara- Guatemala

I love Amy.  She was my first favorite Survivor contestant.  If she didn't F up her ankle she would have made it further, and even though she did, she was never a hindrance for her tribe.  She was going to be Candice's replacement for HVsV, she changed her mind again.  I took the picture from Survivor Oz, and her interview there must be heard.  I would flat out die if she came back on the show again.

Well, that is all.  This was a beast to type up too.  Now, I know I left off a few, but the ten where just the ones that popped in my mind whenever someone says that there where no strong females.  I would never list all of them, though Kelly Bruno, Twila, and Dani are just the ones I'm thinking of that I left off of example.  The last four are some of my favorites that I wanted to sneak in, that I'm sure other's will agree too.  Feel  free to comment, talk to me on Twitter, or E-mail me at HeatherNS17@ymail.com.  All feedback will be considered.  Remember- Heather for season 27/28!
